Air Liquide Invests $200M in Louisiana ASU
Air Liquide announced on June 30 that it will invest up to $200 million in Louisiana, USA, to modernize an existing Air Separation Unit (ASU) and integrate it into its current pipeline network. This investment also includes extending its Gulf Coast pipeline infrastructure by an additional 30 miles. These upgrades will support the group's renewed long-term contract with Dow Chemical Company, strengthening their long-standing partnership. Furthermore, this enhanced pipeline network will allow Air Liquide to better support industrial development in Louisiana.

Under the renewed long-term contract, Air Liquide will continue to supply oxygen and nitrogen to Dow's St. Charles Operations facility in Taft, Louisiana. The plant upgrades and the expansion of the Mississippi River pipeline system will enable Air Liquide to produce and deliver gases more efficiently. The project is expected to be completed in early 2027.
By expanding its robust industrial pipeline network across Texas and Louisiana, Air Liquide will also be able to offer greater flexibility and competitiveness to nitrogen and oxygen customers along the Mississippi River. This strategic investment will solidify Air Liquide's position on the US Gulf Coast and create future growth opportunities.
Matthieu Giard, Group Vice President for Air Liquide Americas, stated: "Air Liquide is proud to continue its long-term partnership with Dow. We are committed to providing a safe and reliable gas supply that meets our customers' needs. By enhancing the overall efficiency of our strong and flexible distribution network, we are taking tangible action to achieve this goal. Air Liquide's presence in Louisiana is one of the industrial pillars supporting numerous industries along the Gulf Coast, and this investment underscores our commitment to supporting our customers' growth."
