Shandong Ocean Energy Builds 2nd LNG Carrier
On May 8, Shandong Ocean Energy marked the start of construction for its second 175,000 cubic meter LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) carrier (H2717) at the Jiangnan Shipyard in Shanghai. Li Maozhong, Secretary of the Company's Party Committee and Chairman, attended the groundbreaking ceremony.

This vessel is part of a large-scale LNG newbuild project signed in 2023 between Shandong Ocean Energy and China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec Group). The ship will feature an advanced dual-fuel propulsion system, making it safe, stable, green, low-carbon, and highly efficient. Its comprehensive performance indicators are benchmarked against international top-tier standards, ensuring compliance with the latest international regulations and industry norms.
The groundbreaking ceremony signifies the full commencement of the company's first LNG newbuild project, accelerating the scale-up of its LNG transportation fleet. Moving forward, the company will collaborate with partners to scientifically coordinate resource allocation and timeline management, ensuring the smooth delivery and operation of the new LNG carriers. This effort aims to provide strong support for China's energy supply chain to achieve independent control and accelerate the development of a clean, low-carbon, safe, and efficient energy system.
