Air Products Acquires Belgium's Strombeek
Air Products, a U.S. industrial gas company, announced on May 7 its acquisition of IJsfabriek Strombeek, a Belgian company specializing in industrial gases such as nitrous oxide, dry ice, and carbon dioxide.
IJsfabriek Strombeek, located in Meise, Belgium, and owned by the Soens family for over 120 years, will now operate under Air Products. This acquisition aims to strengthen Air Products' presence in Belgium, optimize its supply chain, and enhance production capabilities. The U.S. industrial gas giant, with 2024 revenues exceeding $12 billion (approximately €10.7 billion), already has operations in Vilvoorde, Flemish Brabant, and Heusden-Zolder.

The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. Air Products has confirmed that all IJsfabriek Strombeek employees will be retained within their existing structure.
Dieter Soens, Managing Director of IJsfabriek Strombeek, stated, "Joining Air Products presents us with unique opportunities for growth and innovation, while maintaining our strong focus on safety, reliability, and meeting customer expectations."
