Air Products Opens New CO2 Plant in Uzbekistan

Air Products, a global leader in industrial gases, announced on April 15 that Uzbekistan's first high-purity carbon dioxide (CO₂) production facility, meeting international standards, has officially begun operations. The plant is now supplying products to customers. The new facility utilizes CO₂ emitted during ammonia production by Navoiazot, a major chemical enterprise in the region. With a daily capacity of 120 tons, it is Uzbekistan's largest and most technologically advanced plant of its kind. Furthermore, it's the first in Uzbekistan to produce food-grade CO₂ with a purity of up to 99.99%, fully complying with strict international standards.

Kirill Korotkov, Air Products' Commercial Director for Uzbekistan, emphasized, "The launch of the Navoi plant is a significant step for both Air Products and Uzbekistan. By processing by-product CO₂ into a valuable product, we provide local businesses with high-quality raw materials. This project reflects our commitment to environmental initiatives and innovation in the industrial gas sector."

In the long term, the plant is expected to reduce nearly one million tons of CO₂ emissions, aligning with Uzbekistan's environmental strategy to lessen its reliance on natural gas.

The plant's products will cater to various industries, including:

Food industry (freezing, Modified Atmosphere Packaging - MAP)

 Beverage production

 Metal processing and welding

 Agriculture

Its 24/7 operation ensures a stable supply of CO₂, allowing businesses to optimize production processes even during peak demand. Air Products will continue to support Uzbekistan's industrial sustainable development by providing cutting-edge gas solutions. Air Products is a global leader in industrial gas production with 80 years of experience. The company serves energy, environmental, and emerging markets, dedicated to creating a cleaner future.
