Transfer Pump Selection
- First, consider the Liquid Nitrogen Transfer Pump's Net Positive Suction Head (NPSH). This refers to the height difference between the tank's lowest liquid level and the pump inlet. Just like water, a higher level creates flow. Therefore, slightly elevating the cryogenic tank ensures smooth liquid outflow.
- Second, address the risk of cavitation. Cryogenic liquids vaporize quickly in warmer pipes. To prevent gas bubbles from blocking the line, it's best to place the Liquid Nitrogen Transfer Pump below the tank. Ideally, the piping between the tank and pump should be a straight, upward-sloping line with no bends.
- Third, assess the pump's pressure rating of the seals. Standard pumps typically handle up to 6 bar (approx. 85 psi). If inlet pressure exceeds this, a different seal design is needed. Early communication on pressure requirements is crucial.
- Fourth, and simpler, confirm the specific flow rate. Once agreed upon, pump selection is straightforward. Our common liquid nitrogen transfer pump models are available for reference.
